Product Description The Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame® is a hybrid of a folding frame kayak and an inflatable kayak. Its bow slices through water like a knife and rivals the trackability of hard-shell kayaks. The stern acts as a skeg, increasing the tracking performance. It uses extremely durable materials and high-end components. There is plenty of on-board storage room for extended trips and it sets up in just a few minutes.
Amazon.com Product Description A hybrid of a folding-frame kayak and an inflatable kayak, the AdvancedFrame kayak is built for performance and trackability. The hull includes built-in aluminum ribs that define the bow and stern to improve tracking. As a result, the kayak slices through the water like a knife, helping it rival the trackability of hard-shell kayaks. Long hours on the water feel like minutes thanks to the high-support, adjustable padded seat. Plus, the kayak is extremely tough, with three layers of double-coated ripstop material for added puncture resistance. Other features include plenty of onboard storage for extended trips, advanced inflation valves, bungee deck lacing, molded rubber handles, a neoprene paddle guard, a D-ring tie down, and a skeg tracking fin. A breeze to set up--simply unfold the kayak, inflate it, and attach the seat--the kayak comes with a carrying duffel bag, folding seat, and repair kit. Specifications: - Capacity: 300 pounds

Exactly what I wanted August 20, 2010 Frank Tow This is a great item if you want something to casually paddle around a lake. I'm not a serious kayaker, but I do like to go out whenever we're staying on a lake. We've never had a kayak because of the difficulty in transporting them, and I hate having to drive over to the marina to rent one for $20 an hour any time I feel like paddling a a little while. So for me, this product was ideal. The kayak comes in a duffel that's about the size of a medium suitcase and weighs about 30 pounds. I saw one review that said it took them 20 minutes to inflate it the first time. If you have the pump with the gauge that they recommend, I can't imagine how it could take that long. I made mistakes and it still took me less than 10 minutes.
The kayak is very stable in the water, even when it's windy and choppy. I don't know anything about kayak "performance," but this moved easily and smoothly. A side benefit to its being inflatable is that it is more comfortable to sit in than hard plastic kayaks (like sitting on an air mattress), and the soft but sturdy back support was far more pleasant than the hard plastic seats. One of the caveats about this item is that it's supposedly difficult to dry the inside, which is easily preempted by putting a towel on the bottom before you get in.
Deflation with the pump took around 5 minutes. Add another few minutes to fold it and put it back in the duffel, and back in the car it went. No problems. I can't speak to how this product would work in harsher conditions, but for casual use it was great.
Exceded my expectations July 22, 2010 Jonathan D. Moynihan What a good product. Well made, easy to operate, and almost as fast as a fiberglass/abs/whatever. Fits on my boat easily and launches easy as well. Super light weight. Went for a 4 mile kayak ride and was able to keep up with my dad and his friend in a 2 man cobra kayak. Granted I worked harder then they did because its not perfectly rigid, I was still impressed that this kayak could perform well. In the bay there was no difference yet in the ocean I lost more speed then them in the waves due to the face that its not rigid. Great constructions and is truly a buy you won't be disappointed with. *****
Great little boat! July 16, 2010 cyclingwilly 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought two of these wonderful kayaks. We were debating whether to go for hard shells vs. inflatables since we live in Arizona where there is not much water to paddle. We tried the Expedition version at a local shop demo and felt it was quite good considering that it did not require us to purchase special roof racks and park one car outside of the garage. When we ordered these, we also got the backbones as we felt that when we were demoing the Expedition, it flexed significantly when going through waves. Man we made the right decision paying more for the backbones. Now we can say that we have hit the sweet spot. Not only do i enjoy the storage advantage, with the backbones, we can paddle these almost as fast as a good hard shell kayak with no detectable flexing of the boats. Highly recommended for people who want to get inflatable kayaks.
very nice!! July 1, 2010 Reginald G. King Setup is pretty simple once you get the hang of it. This model has 7 chambers to fill, which sounds like a lot but it's really not. There are two main chambers which get filled up first, and then the floor and the deck lift chambers, and finally the combing for the skirt. The two first chambers take the longest - maybe 10 minutes total using the bi-directional hand pump. The rest can be filled in under 5 minutes, making the total time for inflation about 15 minutes.
Easy and portable! June 30, 2010 Wade Smith (Illinois) I bought two of these kayaks so that I could have something easy to carry around in my car. They are very small when packed away. You can easily fit two in a trunk. They were also quick to set up and take down once I figured out the steps.
Note: The valves require a recreational pump for things like air mattresses or swimming pools. They will not work with a bicycle pump.
